When we get rain between when our grounds crew finishes work during the day and games start there is a NEW process for getting rid of puddles this year. Keep in mind - we NO LONGER use quick dry. We use a red granular product that will be supplied to coaches or parents by a board member only. We ask that you do not help yourself to this product, but ask for it when it is needed, because this is a very expensive product.
Please follow this process:
- Rake the puddles that are in the magic mix on the field. Just the top layer. The goal is to get the air into the dirt and get rid of the water.
- Sparingly put down the red granular product. (Do NOT use a half bag on one puddle.)
- Rake again to incorporate the product into the wet top layer of magic mix already on the field.
- If it’s still a puddle, repeat this process one more time.
This process may not be as fast as quick-dry, but it’s better for our fields.
